We currently operate five classrooms specially designed to accommodate the needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).  These classrooms are organized to address the core deficits of children who meet the criteria for and educational classification of Autism. According to federal regulations (Federal IDEA), those core deficits include:

  • Developmental Disorder
  • Significantly affecting social interaction
  • Significantly affecting verbal/nonverbal communication
  • Other characteristics:
    • Repetitive activities and stereotypic behaviors
    • Resistant to environmental changes
    • Resistant to changes in daily routine
  • Generally evident before age 3
  • Unusual responses to sensory stimuli
  • Adversely affects a child’s educational performance
  • Does not apply if educational performance is adversely affected primarily because child has a serious emotional disturbance.
Our specially designed classrooms utilize research based practices including:
  • Visual Supports
  • Structured Teaching
  • Applied Behavior Analysis
