Project Independence
Project Independence is a classroom for students with Autism Spectrum disorders who are high school age through continuing seniors. Students follow a curriculum based on the Ohio Extended Standards as well as paired with the use of virtual learning to result in a High School Diploma. Students learn work skills through the access of thirteen different comminity job sites. Each job site is supported by a job coach. The classroom time is a highly structural environment that uses visual supports and schedules, along with academics to teach the daily living skills, social skills and recreation skills to meet the students needs, while encouraging and strengthening independence to live and interact in their communities.
